Ali is the Event & Programs Coordinator at Rainbow Families, bringing a deep commitment to the LGBTQ+ community engagement and inclusion. After serving on the Rainbow Families Board of Directors for six years, including two years on the Executive Committee as secretary, Ali transitioned into this hands-on role with a strong understanding of the organization’s mission and the families we serve. She possesses a BA in Modern Asian Studies, an MA in Applied Linguistics and an MA in Education. With a background in ESL teaching and international student work (including teaching in Australia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia), she is excited to create meaningful, inclusive events that foster connection, celebration, and support across the Rainbow Families community. Ali lives in DC with her wife, and two kids. They enjoy taking family camping trips, playing board games, and cooking new recipes together.

Ted Lewis is a passionate and dedicated non-profit leader and advocate for LGBTQ+ youth and families. Prior to joining the team at Rainbow Families, Ted most recently served as Director of Youth Well-Being for the Human Rights Campaign. Additionally, Ted has served as Executive Director of Side by Side, an LGBTQ+ youth organization in Richmond, VA as well as in inaugural LGBTQ+ positions at UNC Charlotte and the University of Richmond. Ted holds a BA in English & History from the University of Mary Washington and a MEd in Higher Education from the University of South Carolina. Ted and their partner, Jacob (he/him), have a loving family of three cats and a dog, and are honored to serve LGBTQ+ families in the DC area as Executive Director of Rainbow Families.
