NEW PARENT & PREGNANCY SUPPORT GROUP

Rainbow Families is delighted to provide an ongoing Support Group for people who are currently pregnant, or are new to parenthood with a child under 9 months.
This program is facilitated by a licensed psychologist who specializes in reproductive health and is offered free-of-charge to Rainbow Families members (nominal fee for non-members)

This is designed for those who have not previously participated in this support group, to allow new people participate in this valuable resource. It is hoped that registrants will try to attend all 3 sessions to receive the most benefit from this type of support group. Space is limited to help maintain a sense of privacy, intimacy and safety to interact.

Rainbow Families is delighted to continue our ongoing Support Group for LGBTQ+ people seriously considering or going through Assisted Reproductive Technology as part of their family planning journey.
RAINBOW FAMILIES' ADOPTION SUPPORT GROUP
Fall / Winter 2020
Rainbow Families is pleased to offer our recurring support group for prospective LGBTQ+ parents going through the adoption process. Participants should be about to start their home study, on up to waiting for your child...and all steps in-between.
Dates: Sept 26, Oct 24, Nov 21, December 19
The group is facilitated by an expert in the field of therapy, family counseling, mental health, youth, and families. She has a Masters degree and will soon complete her Doctorate.
Those who have never attended this support group will have registration priority, to help new people participate in this valuable resource. We ask that registrants attend all sessions to receive the most benefit from this support group.
Space is limited to help maintain a sense of privacy, intimacy and safety to interact.
Meetings are free of charge to Rainbow Families members. Non-members are $20 per person (about $7 per session per person). No refunds. Dates/times may be subject to change; any changes will be communicated immediately.
We can't have our huge, in-person Halloween party this year....
So we're having a zoom FAMILY COSTUME PARTY. Let's get the kids (and of course, creative grown-ups) together, dressed up in their Halloweeniest Spooktaculariest Best! We'll DANCE to fun music, show off our fun costumes, laugh, and have a little joy which we all need

Rainbow Families has held our annual Family Picnic at Hillwood Estate & Gardens for 10 years running.
For everyone's safety this year....well, you know. However, the great folks at Hillwood have come up with a FREE Family Fun Night for us this year, and we hope you'll join in.
Explore the Rainbow of Colors at Hillwood Estate through playful activities, fun games, and creative art-making
All you need is some paper and a drawing implement (such as pencil, crayons, or markers) to use during the program. Suggested for children ages 5-10 and their adults, but children of all ages are welcome to participate
We'll be gathering at the beautiful Hillwood Estate again soon
Election Day will have come and gone, and we'll still be trying to understand the outcomes and what it means for our futures

Please join LGBTQ+ attorney Michele Zavos for a frank discussion on steps our community should consider taking to protect yourself and your loved ones in these changing times.
Regardless of relationship status, income, children/no children or other family dynamic, this is an important discussion not to be missed.
Michele Zavos is a Washington DC based attorney who has fought for LGBTQ+ legal protections her entire career. She is also one of the original founders of Rainbow Families.

For the trans community, considering building a family through fertility can be truly unique, if not daunting. It's vital to have a safe, affirming space to learn and to ask questions.
Please join Dr. Carter Owen for an informative discussion about fertility, with topics specifically for the trans community.
Arming yourself with accurate information can help you make well-informed decisions as you embark on your journey to become a parent.

About Dr. Owen: Dr. Carter Owen is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and board eligible in Medical Genetics and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (MG and REI). She attended the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia.
While in medical school, she was awarded a clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda where she focused on uterine fibroids. After completing her OBGYN residency in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania, she returned to the D.C. metro area for her fellowship in MG and REI at the NIH. She currently practices at CCRM Northern Virginia Fertility Center. She is a member of the LGBTQ clinical committee for CCRM nationwide. She and her wife are the proud parents of two sons
