Maybe Baby is a multi-week class designed for prospective LGBTQ+ parents considering parenthood and interested in learning more about the options for building a family.
The classes cover a wide range of topics including an overview of adoption and assisted reproduction; financial and legal issues; building a support network; decision-making as a couple or with a partner(s); considerations in single parenting; the realities of adopting across race; the joys and challenges of being an LGBTQ-headed family and more. The class is designed to provide a balance of active discussion and sharing, as well as gain practical information that helps set the foundation for moving forward.
Perhaps the most profound difference of Maybe Baby, is how this program is designed to be a safe, supportive space. It was created in the 1990s, by the LGBTQ+ community, for the LGBTQ+ community. There is a distinct difference between this and "gay friendly" workshops.
Maybe Baby classes are offered throughout the year, and typically meet Sunday afternoons.
The cost includes one-year membership at the Member level in Rainbow Families. For current members, the price for the Maybe Baby class is reduced.
